It's that time of year when most of us begin to think about setting goals for the coming year. A review of the past year can leave us wondering what caused us to have left over goals that were not completed.
There is a way to set goals for 2024 using a method that is suggested by John Norcross, a Distinguished
Professor of Psychology at the University of Scranton. His advice is based on years of research
studying people who were most successful in achieving New Year's resolutions.
The first step is to make realistic, attainable and measureaable goals before January first. If you
can't measure it, it's not a very good resolution because vague goals will hand you vague resolutions.
After establishing measureable goals establish confidence that you can keep the resolution, even if there is an occasional slip up. The confidence you acquire is not general self-confidence but a specific
conviction that you can change your behavior and be successful.
Now, let's take a look at a strategy you might try to get things moving.
You will pick a simple goal that you can achieve in a few weeks. Share your goal with a friend or family
member for support and accountability to ensure success. Do not worry about failure. This task will help you to know that you can accomplish a goal. Your confident will be strengthen as a result of this goal completion.
Take a sheet of paper and write down as fast as possible 5-10 potential goals that you think you want to
achieve.
Look at your list and using your intuition, not your busy mind or what others have told you to pay attention to and choose the one that will be easiest for you to achieve within a short period of time.
Write down 2-3 strategies that you feel confident about and using your creative mind ask your intuition
to come up with a brand-new strategy. This new strategy will be one that you have not thought about
before. One that will bring you closer to your goal. While you are working to achieve your goal pay attention to any small success or improvement you have made. Even if you have not reached your goal, continue to strive for it. Take time to review the strategies used and see if you need to make a shift in strategies. You may need to come up with one or two different strategies to take the place of those you have been using. Be creative and use your intuition and creative imagination to explore new
strategies.
You must actively engaged in bringing about resolutions to your goals. In activity will leave you
in a place of disappointment. MAY- YOU BE VICTORIOUS IN COMPLETING YOUR GOALS IN 2024.
